Earth Day 🌎 Can Hemp Save the World?

“I believe that hemp is going to be the fiber of choice in both the home furnishing and fashion industries” – Calvin Klein

How Cotton is killing the Earth - Cotton has become the de facto source for materials ranging from apparel, bags, sheets, towels, and pretty much most other household fabric. Approximately half of all textiles are made of cotton.

Yet, we don’t hear much about the impact cotton makes to our environment.
Here are some quick facts:

  • Cotton is the largest user of water among all agricultural commodities
  • It can take 2,700 liters to produce the cotton needed to make a single t-shirt
  • Cotton cultivation severely degrades soil quality. In the past 70 years, cotton production has depleted and degraded the soil in many areas
  • Cotton farming uses 25% of the world’s pesticides and consumes 7% of all fertilizers
  • Runoff of pesticides, fertilizers, and minerals from cotton fields contaminatesrivers, lakes, wetlands, and underground aquifers
  • These pollutants affect biodiversity and have caused species extinction throughout the world

So what can Hemp do about it?

The Major Medical Impact of Federal Reclassification

Federal Reclassification of Marijuana Could Have Major Impact on Medical Uses

Federal authorities have announced that they are reviewing the possibility of loosening the classification of marijuana, and if this happens, it could have a far-reaching impact on how the substance is used in medical settings, experts said.

Medical experts are welcoming the review, saying it could ease restrictions for researchers, so that they can better understand which compounds in marijuana could be used to help patients.

The American Medical Association told ABC News that the group supports the review "to help facilitate scientific research and the development of cannabinoid-based medicines."

Steph Sherer, the founder of the medical marijuana advocacy group Americans for Safe Access, said changing the classification could be a "paradigm change." She pointed out there is currently only one..(Read more)

4 Pro Tips to Nail Your Web Design in 2016

Graphic And Web Design Trends 2016 – What Are the Top Ones To Look Out For?

1Imagery Web Design Trend: Large Background Images -Stock photos still play a major role in digital communication, whether it’s an eCommerce store, portfolio or blog. “Users pay close attention to photos and other images that contain relevant information but ignore fluffy pictures used to “jazz up” Web pages.” – Nielsen Norman Group.

2. Personal Branding Trend In WebDesign - Personal branding exists whether you focus on it or not. Your identity and your image (how you are perceived by other people) are very different. “Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room” – Jeff Bezos, Founder of Amazon

3. Mobile First Websites - Web usage patterns are changing and statistics cannot be ignored if you want to succeed in today’s market. Every third website visitor now uses a mobile device and websites that do not offer mobile optimized versions are causing an unpleasant experience and eventually losses money as users tend to abandon the website if it doesn’t render well on mobile device. “The number of people using mobile devices outstripped people on desktop computers in 2014.” – Jim Edwards, Business Insider, April 2014

4. One Page (Single Page) Web Design Trend - Scrolling is winning over clicking due to the changing web browsing patterns. As mentioned earlier, mobile device usage growth has influenced the way websites are designed nowadays. With smaller screens and super natural touch scrolling movement, people prefer to scroll around instead of clicking on the links and waiting for the content to appear.

Why Your Social Media Posts Get Ignored

Social Media Suffering? Let's fix that!

So…how’s that social media marketing plan going? Are your prospective customers engaged yet?

Is social media marketing a lost cause? Not at all! But in order to make it work for you as a business, you have to accept one hardcore truth: consumers don’t want to talk to you until they want to talk to you or (and this is the really hard part) you provide them with something interesting enough to share with their friends.

It’s that latter reason that’s been driving much of the surging interest in content marketing during the past year or so.  The only way to attract engagement on social media is to create content that’s 1) going to attract the audiences you’re trying to engage with; and 2) provide some reason that they’d want to share it within their social networks. It’s not easy, but it is possible provided you keep a few things in mind:

  • It all begins and ends with content. People share content because it provides value to them and their social networks. While the content should revolve around your business culture and products, it still needs to be relevant to your target audiences.
  • Make it easy to share. Include social media sharing tabs throughout your website and make your content sharable on each channel. Make compelling images (or infographics) “pinnable.” If you can create short, tweet-friendly URLS, do so. Accompany a blog with a LinkedIn ready Slideshare or a YouTube video with a series of Instagram pictures. Package it.  (source)
